Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: If my company decides to use DAS Trader, will we need to get our own market data provider, as well as connections to the exchanges and ECNs, to execute trades?

A: If your company decides to license the DAS Trader software, then it will have a choice to use our servers and data/execution connections. However, it is also possible to enter a service bureau arrangement else where. In which case, DAS will provide you with market data and execution services and will house your servers in our datacom processing facility also.

Q: My company has decided to use the DAS Trader package. On average, how much time is required to set up a working system?

A: If you are migrating from another Level II trading platform and already have the required data connections, a full system installation could take up to two weeks. If you startup your own service bureau company, it could take up to two months to have all the required data connections installed in your office. If you wish to enter a service bureau arrangement, we can usually have your system running in a week's time.

Q: What do you mean by required data connections?

A: By required data connections, we are referring to any combination of connections that provides market data and execution capabilities. This could mean a 3rd party data provider like ComStock or direct data lines from the NASDAQ and NYSE. On the execution side you only need one route. An ECN connection like Inet or Archipelago will be sufficient, but multiple execution routes are preferred. For service bureau arrangements, DAS's data connections are utilized so the customer need not provide anything.

Q: What do the flag letters such as W, T, E, F, etc on the Time & Sales window stand for ?

A: For the meanings of flag letters, please read this document

Q: What is "3 roundtrip control" ?

A: It's a rule of NASD, if the equity on your account is less than $25000, you are not allowed to do day trading, and you can't have more than 3 round trips in 5 days. One roundtrip means to buy and sell the same stock once.
